1 - Fertility monitoring
Fertility monitoring involves a follicle tracking scan, which is performed to measure the size of any active follicles - the fluid-filled sacs in the ovaries that can contain eggs – to estimate when ovulation is likely to occur and can increase your chances of conception, both naturally and with the help of fertility treatment
2 - HyCoSy
HyCoSy is a specialised fertility scan for women to determine the patency of the fallopian tubes and to assess the uterine cavity. Fallopian tubes and the inner cavity of the uterus cannot be fully assessed by routine ultrasound and require a more specialised examination. It is the baseline of investigations for any woman wishing to fully educate themselves on their fertility journey.
3 - SIS (Aqua Scan)
An Aquascan, also known as Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS), is an internal ultrasound scan in which a saline solution is used to show the outline of the uterine cavity (womb). It is performed when there are reasons to require more detailed assessment of the lining of the uterus that is possible with a normal gynaecological ultrasound scan.

You should receive your results within 24 hours of your scan. You should then organise to see your fertility specialist to discuss the next step of your journey.
With your ultrasound results, you will have a clearer understanding of your fertility health.
If you’re unsure of where to go - we can refer you to a GP, fertility consultant, or alternative therapy consultant depending on the path you'd like to pursue.
