HyCoSy is a specialised fertility scan for women to determine the patency of the fallopian tubes and to assess the uterine cavity. Fallopian tubes and the inner cavity of the uterus cannot be fully assessed by routine ultrasound and require a more specialised examination. It is the baseline of investigations for any woman wishing to fully educate themselves on their fertility journey.

My Fertility Scan performs these procedures for the patients of other fertility centres or fertility specialists, as well as patients referred by GPs and gynaecologists. The procedure is performed by highly-skilled diagnostic medical sonographers here at My Fertility Scan. It is a relatively non-invasive procedure involving the insertion of a small catheter into the uterus. Sterile fluid is passed through the catheter into the uterine cavity while a vaginal ultrasound is being performed. This allows the sonographer to investigate the cavity for abnormalities.The addition of a contrast medium is then passed through the catheter allowing the sonographer to detect any potential blockages in the fallopian tubes.
